Imaginary Voyage Print

UNFRAMED:
CA$ 80.00 CAD

On a warm welcoming summer day, as the sun's rays light up the sandy shores of Shediac bay, the children are engrossed in making sandcastles or little toy boats. A little child cautiously floats his sailboat as the mother watches over her. Where will this sailboat take them? The imaginary journey begins to dreamlands far beyond the present location. It's a journey to faraway places, filled with adventure, and fun. With a shared smile, mother and child watch their sailboat gently float away. Isn't it fun to imagine where it might end up? Who might capture it or will there be unforeseen dangers that cause it to capsize? In this beautiful moment of bonding, they make lasting memories anchored in the timeless beauty of a summer day. Childhood is short-lived just like the summer. Why not make the best of it?

The Story Behind

"To escape and sit quietly on the beach - that's my idea of paradise." - Emilia Wickstead

Do you have fond memories of spending a fun afternoon on the beach with your family? I sure do. It is indeed like being in paradise - sitting on the beach quietly and reflecting as the I feel the warm sand under my body and cool waves touch my feet.

New Brunswick has beautiful beaches all along its coast line. In the summertime Parlee Beach comes alive as families come to relax on the sandy beach. It is a child's paradise. There are so many delightful activities that occupy both adults and children. Some of the simple pleasures of a summer afternoon on the beach consist of making sand castles, floating sailboats, picking up sea glass, gathering unique seashells, wading in little pools of water, walking with wet sand squishing under your toes, and admiring the weird shapes of driftwood. The above scenario is the inspiration behind this painting.
