The story Behind

Mixed media painting on paper adhered to canvas

"Your entire life happens only in this moment. The present moment is life itself. Yet people live as if the opposite were true and treat the present moment as a stepping stone to the next moment - a means to an end." - Ekhart Tolle

The mixed-media painting "Rose for the Day" reflects the message of living in the present and finding happiness in life’s simple pleasures.

Inspired by Eckhart Tolle's philosophy, the painting encourages us to appreciate small everyday pleasures.

It illustrates the story of Mr. Unhappy, who, despite hard work and prayers, continually hoped for better times in the future, which never fully arrived.

Frustrated, he sought advice from a saint, who challenged him to find the "best rose" in a garden but forbade turning back.

Mr. Unhappy returned with a withered rose, explaining that he had passed better ones, expecting to find a perfect rose ahead.

The saint then explained that life, like the rose garden, presents daily opportunities for joy, but if we overlook them, they are gone forever.

The story's message is clear: savor life’s small "roses" daily, without waiting for a perfect future that may never come.
