Sackville Wharf is very significant in the history of Sackville. It marks the development of Sackville as a hub of commerce in the Maritimes, where as earlier Sackville had mostly an agriculture based economy.
In 1840-41 the old wharf was constructed at Dixon's Landing. Lumber, grindstones, building stones were exported and many goods were imported.
