New Brunswick has pleanty of lakes, rivers, bays, straits, and ocean fronts for fishing. There is a huge variety of fish in our waters. Lobster, and cod have been exported consistently and have thus contributed to the economic prosperity of the province.
Fishing has been a way of life for centuries. The people of New Brunswick have formed kinship with the land, water and its rich resources. Fish have provided livelihood for generations of New Brunswickers.
Various groups of people have done ice fishing in New Brunswick rivers for a long time.
In the past ice fishing was essential as it provided food for the families. Today many families still maintain the tradition of ice fishing though it is now more like a sport. The Shacks provide all that one needs to go ice fishing.
