Radio Canada International transmission towers were erected in 1947.
After being in operation for 67 years, in 2014, one by one they started coming down. It happened due to the budget cutbacks that the CBC had announced in 2012.
This brought an end to CBC’s shortwave service, which was created during the second World War.
Tantramar marsh was the ideal site for transmission of radio signals. [ link ].
The land has since been sold to Mi’kmaq First Nations in 2017 [ Link ]
